现代有没有独立卫生间？
看了下，都是装修行业的人来答这个问题...我就从建筑设备的角度来答一下吧. 首先，现代这个词太宽泛了，不同国家不同时期的住宅标准是不一样的，而且现代住宅的概念也不是指某一种具体的设计风格（比如现代主义）或者施工工艺（比如现代混凝土结构），所以很难回答“有”还是“没有”这么绝对的问题. 但是我们可以从定义入手，先弄清楚“住宅”和“卫生间”这两个概念： 联合国人居署官网对住宅的定义是： "Housing" means the human dwelling place and all its components， which are： a) the construction itself; b) the site where it is built (land use planning); c) the energy， water and waste services that sustain the living space； d) the economic， social， cultural and other relationships that define homes as places for living in community with others while respecting privacy.
可见，住宅是一个涵盖内容非常广的概念，而卫生间可以说是住宅的一个组成部分——虽然很重要，但绝对算不上住宅的核心。 如果只看卫生间的定义，那真是再简单不过： A bathroom， toilets or sanitary installation is a room or suite of rooms within a house、 apartment or other building containing one or more bathing facilities or toilet facilities.[1] 而住宅的定义中，包含厕所（toilet）的表述有很多，比如： Inclosing or surrounded by buildings so as to have only access to the rear or side yards．（美）在房子旁边有一个小后院或侧院，供家庭使用； Have an attached or detached single-family residence on a parcel of land， usually with a front yard and generally with access to streets．有前院的单家独户住房，通常有一间（套）卧室； 可以看出来，无论是英文还是汉语，把toilet放到了住宅定义里，说明toilet与住宅的关系是很亲密的，用汉语中的“有”还是“无”来形容住宅有无卫生间，似乎也不太合适。
回到问题本身，现代是指什么？我们讨论的住宅是现代的还是古代的？如果是现代的，那么考虑到联合国人居署给出的住宅定义里有“all its components”，也就是说包括toilet在内的所有配套都要有，否则就是缺斤少两。但如果指的是古代，情况又不同了。中国古代的住宅跟阿拉伯国家的住宅差别很大，因为文化传统差异太大，无法用统一的标准去衡量。在这种情况下，说中国的四合院没有厕所显然是不对的，但说美国的小别墅没有厕所却又是正确的。
所以，要评价现代住宅有没有卫生间这种配置，必须先搞清楚这个“现代”到底是哪一个“现代”——是中国的现代，还是美国的现代，或者是联合国的现代？
